Food forests are designed to produce a large amount of food with minimal effort from the gardener.  A food forest is a garden that is modelled after natural ecosystems found in forests. Food Forests include trees, shrubs, herbs, and other plants that work together to create a self-sustaining system. The goal of a food forest is to produce an abundance of food with minimal effort from the gardener. They are made up of many different layers of plants, including trees, shrubs, herbs, ground cover plants, and vines. The goal is to create a self-sustaining system where all parts work together to produce food.

Plants propagate naturally, and if given the proper conditions and care, cuttings will sprout roots using their own hormones. However, some people choose to use rooting hormones to speed up the process, or for plants that have proven difficult to propagate in the past. "It's a personal choice
